Matthew Praetus - ToR entry

This is Matthew Praetus, a scientist from the year 2502. I took a little while to decide whether I want to try this, and in the end I just said, "Gung ho!" XD Anyway, here are the stats. I will upload the story soon.

History: He grew up in New York with his sister, whom he was very close to, and his mother. His father mysteriously disappeared before he was born. In school he became very interested in Biochemistry, and learnt much about how chemicals’ effects can be altered with micro-technology. After school and university, he became a scientist in an obscure company aimed at ‘redesigning the body’. After he came out with his ‘wonderdrug’, it was mass produced and sold in its millions. The ingredients had quickly reformed themselves, however, and people started mutating rapidly. The government outlawed Praetus and started killing the mutants in fear, but he stayed in a secluded lab where he strove to find a cure to save over 6 million people. The government soon got word of this and started trying to find his lab in order to kill him.

Personality: Everything he does in overshadowed to him by his view that he directly caused the death of millions of people. Considering this, he is surprisingly brave, although it is easy to perceive this as being gullible and too easily trusting. He dislikes large amounts of personal company, so he can handle crowded rooms as long as they are not full of people he knows or who wishes to talk to him. He is very gentle at heart, but recently, it seems that his mutated arm has influenced his actions in a slightly violent way, and he often seems to ‘argue with himself’.

Weapons/Abilities: He has a vaccine-dart projector that he has dubbed ‘The Needle Gun’ which was never really intended for combat, but when he started to battle for a second chance at life, he tweaked the gun slightly so that it would have a range of 30 metres, as opposed to 30 millimetres, and filled the darts with poisonous concoctions. The tentacles on his arm are in Praetus’s control most of the time, although they occasionally do their own thing. They can extend to about 2 and a half metres and even looking at them unnerves even Praetus himself. He takes all of his surroundings into account and likes to avoid harm by using inanimate weapons, as opposed to using any living things to shield him, etc.
